HP Announces 2026 Future of Work Accelerator Participants at Imagine 2026

In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, the gap between those with access to technology and skills and those without is increasingly pronounced. Recognizing this challenge, HP Inc. and the HP Foundation have launched the 2026 Future of Work Accelerator, designed to empower organizations tackling this divide. Drawing from four years of impactful initiatives, the Accelerator is back in the U.S., focusing specifically on preparing future workers, as an astounding 92% of jobs now require digital skills.

This year’s program features five U.S.-based organizations, each selected for their innovative approaches to reach disconnected communities. The organizations are:

  • Extern: This platform facilitates externships, connecting students with real-world projects at companies such as Amazon and Pfizer. With a remarkable track record, Extern has enrolled over 70,000 learners.

  • Millennium Campus Network: Through its Millennium Fellowship, this organization breeds civic innovators, training them to tackle pressing community issues and launch impactful careers.

  • PHIND Work: Utilizing geo-matching technology, this mobile platform links individuals to employment opportunities and training specifically in sectors like construction and clean energy.

  • Skillionaire Games: This creative initiative offers engaging video games aimed at career exploration, particularly benefitting youth from underserved backgrounds.

  • SkillUp: Operating as a nonprofit coalition, SkillUp aids workers from under-resourced communities in acquiring skills that align with market demands, ensuring equitable access to high-opportunity jobs.

For the first time, the Accelerator is inclusive of both nonprofit and mission-driven for-profit entities, a reflection of the urgent need for scalable solutions. From a pool of 570 applicants, the chosen organizations represent a diverse array of initiatives, ranging from AI-driven recruitment tools to gamified career planning platforms.

“At HP, we believe opportunity starts with access to the best tools for work, to skills, and to economic opportunities,” states Antonio Lucio, Chief Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer at HP Inc. “Through our Future of Work Accelerator, we’re scaling bold, practical solutions that help today’s and tomorrow’s workers thrive.”

Each selected organization will receive US$100,000 in funding and an equivalent amount in HP technology. They will participate in a six-month virtual program led by HP alongside partners such as MIT Solve and Global Impact Advisors. The program will include workshops, executive coaching, and consultations, equipping organizations to enhance the impact of their respective initiatives.

The Accelerator’s previous cycles have already demonstrated significant global impact, supporting 35 nonprofit organizations across 13 countries and impacting over 11 million individuals. Past participants have included diverse organizations like Digify Africa in South Africa, which focuses on youth employment, and Access to Success in Canada, which champions assistive technology for individuals with disabilities.

While the Future of Work Accelerator offers substantial opportunities for innovation and community enhancement, small business owners should also be aware of potential challenges. Engaging with these programs may require an initial investment of time and resources, and aligning with the program’s long-term goals will be essential for maximizing the benefits. Additionally, integration of new technological solutions may necessitate staff training and adaptation.

The aim of these initiatives not only fosters equity in employment opportunities but also addresses skills shortages in critical sectors, promoting economic resilience. With AI and other digital competencies redefining job specifications, this Accelerator aims to assist the most vulnerable workers, including young people and small business employees, in navigating an uncertain economic landscape.

HP has set an ambitious target of reaching 150 million people through its social impact activities by 2030. As of 2024, they have successfully connected 65 million individuals via programs like the Future of Work Accelerator and HP LIFE, the organization’s free business and digital skills training resource.
