AWS and Valeo Join Forces to Drive Cloud Innovation in Software-Defined Vehicles

Share

Amidst the transformative landscape of the automotive industry, Valeo has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to usher in a new era of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs). This collaboration aims to streamline the development, testing, and validation processes of complex automotive software systems, providing small business owners in the automotive sector a glimpse into how innovation can enhance operational efficiency and customer service.

Valeo’s experience as a frontrunner in software and electronics design positions it well to lead this shift towards SDVs. The partnership with AWS amplifies this effort by leveraging cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing to produce integrated automotive solutions. As small businesses grapple with competition and technological pressures, these new offerings could be game-changers.

The collaboration was announced at CES 2025, where Valeo unveiled three significant solutions that promise to enhance the automotive manufacturing process:

  1. Valeo Virtualized Hardware Lab: This solution allows car manufacturers to rapidly test software on virtualized Electronic Control Units (vECUs) and Sensor Models (VESMs). Valeo reports that using this platform can accelerate the development cycle of ECU software by up to 40%, significantly reducing costs and speeding up feature release times. With the Valeo Virtualized Hardware Lab set to be available on AWS Marketplace in Q1 2025, small automotive businesses can deploy these tools globally in mere minutes.

  2. Valeo Cloud Hardware Lab: Touted as the first Hardware-in-the-loop as-a-Service (HILaaS) solution, this lab grants manufacturers managed access to extensive hardware testing capabilities. Global teams can collaborate more efficiently through this cloud-hosted service, streamlining software development and validation workflows for Autonomous Mobility.

  3. Assist XR: This new service enhances the driving experience through AI-powered remote assistance technologies. By analyzing real-time vehicle and environmental data, Assist XR can provide rapid support for roadside assistance and maintenance. For small businesses focused on customer service, this innovation could enhance client relationships and operational effectiveness.

Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo Brain division, emphasized the strategic advantage of their offerings, stating, “Valeo is focused on empowering its customers as they navigate the industry’s transformation toward software-driven mobility. By working with AWS, we are creating new services that will dramatically improve efficiency and reduce the cost of software development cycles for our customers.”

Ozgur Tohumcu, General Manager of Automotive and Manufacturing at AWS, echoed this sentiment, noting that cloud and AI technologies are accelerating innovations throughout the automotive sphere. “Through this collaboration, AWS will support Valeo as they continue developing even faster and more efficient SDV solutions for their customers,” he said.

For small business owners in the automotive sector, the introduction of these advanced tools represents both an opportunity and a challenge. On one hand, the potential to cut development costs and improve product offerings could lead to better customer satisfaction and competitive positioning. However, businesses may face hurdles such as the need for upskilling staff or the integration of these advanced technologies into existing workflows.

Moreover, industry participants must consider the investment involved in adopting cloud services and the infrastructure required to fully leverage these new capabilities. The shift towards SDVs is not just a tech upgrade; it represents a fundamental change in how vehicles are developed, emphasizing the need for businesses to adapt quickly.

As these solutions roll out—culminating in further demonstrations at CES 2025—small businesses in the automotive sector should stay informed and be ready to engage with these innovations. They not only promise to reshape vehicle development but also illustrate the broader trends toward data-driven decision-making and customer-centric service models in the automotive industry.

For more details about this collaboration, Valeo and AWS will showcase their technology at CES on January 7, 2025, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. To read the official announcement, visit Amazon’s press release.
