Square has unveiled exciting new partnerships and features aimed at transforming the operations of beauty and wellness small business owners. This initiative is designed to equip these sellers with powerful tools that not only streamline operations but also enhance client engagement, ultimately driving revenue growth.
In a notable partnership with SalonCentric, Square has made its hardware and software offerings more accessible. As the largest B2B distributor of beauty products in the U.S., SalonCentric serves over 1 million customers with more than 600 retail locations. Now, beauty professionals can purchase Square Readers directly from SalonCentric stores and access promotional pricing on Square Appointments Plus. This move ensures that small business owners in the beauty sector have the tools they need to thrive in a competitive market.
Bertrand Fontaine, President of SalonCentric, emphasized the shared mission of the partnership: “Our role as the industry leader is to help salons embrace new technologies to be more successful, including business solutions like Square.”
The enhancements from Square are designed to meet the unique needs of beauty and wellness sellers, providing them with deeply integrated solutions that streamline operations. The new features available through Square’s App Marketplace include:
- SalonInteractive: Allows sellers to generate additional income from drop-shipped hair and beauty products, handling logistics from packing to delivery.
- Vish: A hair color management system that integrates with Square, helping salons track color usage, reduce waste, and improve accuracy in services.
- Submatic: Enables easy management of client memberships, automating communications and tracking benefits within Square.
- Pomp: This software supports estheticians in recommending and selling skincare products without the burdens of inventory management.
- SalonScale: Simplifies backbar management and color usage tracking for salons, minimizing waste.
- Glammatic: Offers marketing tools that help sellers create attractive custom websites and manage social media.
Small business owners can leverage these integrated solutions to enhance their operational efficiency. For example, the Packages feature, one of the most requested additions, allows clients to buy services in bulk. This not only drives repeat business but also gives customers a flexible way to manage their appointments.
Michele Callegari, CEO and Co-Founder of Barberino’s, has already witnessed the benefits, stating, “Packages have also been a huge unlock for my business since I can grow sales by encouraging repeat business.”
Square’s new No-Show Fee by Service feature gives sellers control over cancellations, with businesses reporting a 23% decrease in no-shows after implementing it. Additionally, the feature tracking Service Costs helps owners understand the relationship between expenses and revenue, optimizing their pricing strategies.
Enhanced booking functionalities also stand out in this rollout. Customized online booking allows beauty professionals to tailor the client experience with logos, brand colors, and convenient communication channels. The new ‘Text Us’ Button helps sellers manage inquiries right at the booking stage, contributing to higher conversion rates.
There are challenges, however, that small business owners must consider when adopting these new features. Transitioning to a new system can require a learning curve for staff. Moreover, while the integrations promise convenience, some businesses might initially face difficulties adapting to the various tools and processes.
Despite these challenges, the advantages appear substantial. Ashley Heywood, Health & Beauty Product Marketing Lead at Square, insists that these enhancements cater to the diverse operational styles of beauty and wellness sellers, offering flexibility and support as businesses scale. She points out, “Square’s latest product enhancements enable sellers to personalize their business for even more power and control.”
Incorporating Square’s solutions can represent a significant step toward operational excellence for small beauty businesses. By modernizing their operations with these tools and features, owners can focus more on client engagement and less on administrative burdens, paving the way for sustained growth and success.
