Amazon Celebrates Italian Craftsmanship with Week-Long ‘Made in Italy Days’ Exclusive Deals

Share

Amazon has launched the "Made in Italy Days," a week-long event from May 13 to 19 that celebrates Italian craftsmanship through exclusive offers on over 3 million products made by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Italy. This initiative not only highlights the richness of Italian goods but also aims to expand the reach of these artisans in both domestic and international markets.

As noted by Ilaria Zanelotti, Director of Seller Services for Amazon Italy, “We are proud to renew the ‘Made in Italy Days’ this year, an initiative that highlights the quality and craftsmanship that distinguish small and medium-sized Italian businesses.” By creating a dedicated space on Amazon.it, this event makes it easier for customers in Italy and beyond to discover a diverse array of local products that embody the talents and traditions of Italian artisans.

The "Made in Italy Days" is more than just a shopping opportunity; it’s a celebration of the artisanal heritage that makes Italy renowned worldwide. The event features a curated platform on Amazon.it that showcases the work of over 5,500 Italian companies, illustrating how these SMEs are effectively harnessing digital marketplaces to reach consumers globally. Many of these products are now available not just in Italy, but across Amazon platforms in 11 countries, including France, Spain, Germany, and the U.S.

This initiative represents a unique opportunity for small business owners who are looking to gain visibility and customer access across borders. By taking advantage of Amazon’s vast logistical network and established customer base, local artisans can significantly increase their market reach without the substantial overhead costs that typically accompany international expansion. The collaboration, which has flourished since 2019 between Amazon and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), further enhances this support, having engaged more than 2,800 SMEs and making available over 650,000 new products to a global audience.

Illustrating the event’s commitment to authentic Italian craftsmanship, Amazon has partnered with popular Italian comedians Filippo Caccamo and Giada Parisi. The duo embarks on a journey to explore various artisanal products, showcasing their stories through engaging content available on social media. They visit notable locations including the Amoroses company in Brescia, known for its stunning floral arrangements; Saga Gioielli in Conversano, which specializes in exquisite yet contemporary jewelry; and Pasticceria Fraccaro 1932 in Castelfranco Veneto, celebrated for its traditional Italian pastries.

The foods, jewelry, and decorative arts featured in the "Made in Italy Days" serve as a testament to the creativity and dedication of Italian SMEs. With over 18 regional pathways showcased, buyers can enjoy a seamless shopping experience that takes them through Italy’s unique flavors and artisanal craftsmanship, making it a significant event for both consumers and businesses.

However, small business owners might want to consider several challenges that come with participating in such large-scale events. While online visibility is boosted, they may face increased competition from other established brands on the platform. Companies must ensure their products not only meet quality standards but also stand out through branding and effective product descriptions. Additionally, navigating logistics and shipping can be complex, especially for smaller businesses unfamiliar with cross-border trade processes.

The Made in Italy Days represent a vibrant opportunity for entrepreneurs not only to display their creations but also to connect with a broader audience. As the event unfolds, small business owners are encouraged to capitalize on this trend, enhancing their visibility and offering unique products that reflect Italy’s artisanal legacy.
